This is one of the most popular Central European cities for a weekend getaway or more! Let yourself be surprised by the architectural, historical and nightlife wealth of Budapest.
The “Pearl of the Danube”, as it is known, was born from the merger between the cities of Buda and Pest in 1873. To help you organize your city break, we have prepared 4 tours that cover the main places of interest in the city.
Start with our visit to the beautiful Castle Hill. This area, rich in historical sites and panoramas, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will visit illustrious buildings such as the Mathias Church, the Fishermen’s Bastion and the Royal Palace. During your walk you will learn about the eventful history of Budapest: Austrian domination, World War II, communism, etc. There are also many anecdotes and a marvelous panorama overlooking the whole city that await you.
For our second tour, go to the nightlife district and former Jewish quarter of the city. Start on the elegant Andrassy Avenue, sometimes called the “Champs Elysees” of Budapest. You will learn more about the country’s communist period. Then enter the city’s old Jewish quarter. Visit the magnificent synagogue, the Monument of the Righteous and the Memorial Park, all of which bear witness to the tragic history of the Jews in Budapest. You’ll end on a lighter note by strolling the streets where people come to party all night long. You will pass by the most famous Ruin bar in the city: the Szimpla Kert.
Afterwards, head for downtown Budapest where you will get to know its main monuments as well as Hungarian art, history and gastronomy. Discover emblematic places of the city such as the Parliament, the Gresham Palace and the Chain Bridge.
Here again, and for your ears only, you will discover the history of Budapest as well as many anecdotes.
To finish this Budapest escapade, change of atmosphere. We will meet you in the Bois-Ville district, the main public park of Budapest known for its famous museums, its Széchenyi baths and its magnificent Vajdahunyad castle. A peaceful stroll to enjoy some greenery.
